The honning of skills and physical fitness at preparatory camps over, it was time for the 18- member senior hockey team for the prestigious World Cup competition in Germany next month to learn the art of focussing on the task at hand.
This they were imparted as Chief Coach V Baskaran and IHF President K P S Gill and Secretary K Jyothikumaran looked on, from Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of Isha Foundation at an interactive session with the 'Guru' at a five star hotel.
They were told how to focus on the task without actually putting themselves under any pressure, as Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev told them.
Don't bother about the opposition teams' goals. Focus on putting the ball in the goal, they were told.
Forget about bringing laurerls to the country by winning the Cup. Then there would be no pressure. There is nothing called as pressure.
It's all man made, the 'Guru' dinned this philosophy into the minds of the players when they asked him how to get over pressure?
Play as if you are playing a game with your friends or as though you are playing a league match, was another piece of advise the players were told.
The members of the team for the SAF Games in Colombo also attended the session on the theme "If you valu your work, who you are needs to be worked at".
The World Cup team is scheduled to leave for Germany from New Delhi on August 24 and the SAF Games team to Colombo on Saturday.
