“We’re not terrorists ...We are Muslims and proud of that”

“We are not terrorists and don’t treat us as terrorists. We are Muslims and we are proud of that,” an angry Farooq Abdullah, Union minister for new and renewable energy, said at an educational conference at the Kashmir University.

“We are not terrorists and don’t treat us as terrorists. We are Muslims and we are proud of that,” an angry Farooq Abdullah, Union minister for new and renewable energy, said at an educational conference at the Kashmir University.

“I want to tell my countrymen sitting here (that) we may have made mistakes in the past but there are none which can’t be rectified. We are proud people and are not beggars,” he said addressing the 15th IDEA (Indian Distance Education
Association) annual conference on ‘Quality assurance in open and distance education’ here.

Siding with Kashmiri protestors, he said when pride of the people gets hurt they revolt. “It is high time that we are treated as equals…” he stated.

Requesting the academics from across the country present at the conference to be ambassadors of Kashmir, Farooq said Kashmiris are peace-loving people. . “Islam teaches us love. I may not bow before your God but I respect your God," he said.
