International business, foreign trade or international marketing as the course is often termed is taught as part of the MBA curriculum at most B-schools. However a number of such institutes also offer a specialised master’s degree in International Business or Foreign Trade. While the major part of the programme is similar to the marketing modules of business management, it also includes procedures and documentation of international trade operations, international law and taxation, quotas and restrictions, relevant treaties, various aspects of international business practices and so on.

A Master’s in International Business, or Foreign Trade is offered by the following: Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi; Delhi University, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Kurukshetra University, Aligarh Muslim University, Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade, Pune; Fore School of Management, Delhi, and several other management institutes. There are also PG diploma programmes in foreign trade, such as those offered by International Management Institute, New Delhi, and Amity Business School, New Delhi, and some courses through distance learning too, such as those from All India Management Association and IGNOU. Admission to all these courses is through admission tests.

I am a first year BA student at Allahabad University. After graduation I want to do a film direction course from FTII Pune. I want to know its eligibility criteria, fees and other information related to the course.

The film and television direction course at FTII Pune is a diploma course for three years for which a bachelor’s degree is required. Admission is on the basis of an entrance test followed by an interview. The written test can be taken at a number of examination centres around the country, but the interview will be conducted at the FTII campus. Allahabad is one of the centres for the written test. Applications should be sent by early April and the test is normally held in early May. Tuition fees for the course is Rs. 20,000 per year. The application form can be procured from the Registrar, Film & Television Institute of India, Law College Road, Pune–411004.
