Woman set on fire after rape by accused in Rewari

In a shocking incident, a woman of Dulhera Khurd village has allegedly raped and her body found burnt in mysterious conditions in her house on Tuesday late night. Jatinder Kohli reports.

In a shocking incident, a woman of Dulhera Khurd village has allegedly raped and her body found burnt in mysterious conditions in her house on Tuesday late night.

According to police information, Raj Rani (35) and her two children were sleeping in her house in the village and her husband Jile Singh was away from the village to take part in the marriage function. Narpal, neighbour of victim, entered in the house and allegedly raped with her and after listening noise in the house, villagers reached the house and accused Narpal fled away from the spot.

After this, villagers manage to catch the accused but he escaped away. Then, villagers reached her house where her body was allegedly deadbody found burnt in the house after the incident.

Villagers and family members alleged that accused had poured kerosene oil after rape and set her on fire which led to her death. Villagers informed police but police failed to reach on time at site.

Then, villagers reached police station and stated about the incident. Police booked Narpal under sections of Section 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 376 (Punishment for rape) of IPC but villagers protested against this and demanded for booking Narpal under also Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of IPC.

Talking with Hindustan Times, SP Rewari, Vikas Arora told that accused also been booked under sections 302 on the demand of family members and villagers. He further said that police have been carrying out its own investigation and have not reached out at any conclusion that victim had committed suicide or accused set her on fire.

He further said that the body has been given to family members after carrying out post-mortem and its report is still to come.
