Malik, on the third of his fast unto death, fell unconscious as a team of government doctors examined him and advised his hospitalisation.

He was "forcibly" taken into in an ambulance to Soura Medical Institute, a spokesman of JKLF said.

The JKLF chief began his 'fast unto death' on August five to protest against the on-going social unrest in Jammu region.

"There is need to counter the brazen attempts to communalise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. It is part of the policy to divide the state along communal lines which we will not allow to succeed," Malik had said when he began the fast on Tuesday.
