Year-long walk on AIDS to end on AIDS day

The 'AIDS Walk for Life', launched on December 1, 2004, has already educated about two million people about AIDS in over 300 cities, towns and villages in 13 states.

Thirty people will complete their 6,800 km journey across various cities, towns and villages of the country here on World AIDS day this Thursday after having walked for 365 days to spread awareness on AIDS.

The 'AIDS Walk for Life', launched on December 1, 2004, has already educated about two million people about AIDS in over 300 cities, towns and villages in 13 states, a release from Project Concern International, the organisation, which organised the walk, said.

The walkers had begun their 6,800 km journey here a year ago, it said.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi is expected to pay tributes to the walkers on the occasion, it said.
