The way the youth reacted to Sonia and Rahul must have sent shockwaves to various political parties who have been trying to woo the masses by distributing unemployment and other allowances.

The people’s participation in the rally was indicative of the fact that the Nehru family still holds sway over the people of the State. Earlier, it was stated that the Nehru family was losing its emotional ties with the people of Uttar Pradesh, but the way the people of the city and its adjoining areas took part in the rally set aside all such comments. Commenting on the people’s participation in the rally, some said that most participants came to see Sonia and Rahul. Former principal of the DSN Degree College Kuldeep Srivastva said, “I think, People have flocked to the meeting place to have a look at the members of Nehru-Gandhi family and not to get themselves acquainted with the Congress agenda.”

Similarly, a Reader of PPN Degree College Abha Singh, expressing her views about the Sonia Gandhi’s rally, said that mass participation in the rally should not be taken as support to the Congress, as a section of society still treated her as a foreigner.

Reacting to the rally, a senior advocate Khalil Ahmad summed up: “Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s efforts would be able to put the Congress in the state in a better place.”
