Ambulance owners at MY Hospital in Indore on strike

Majority of the private ambulance owners operating in MY Hospital went on strike on Thursday against the recent decision of the management which had allotted the ambulance vans a place outside the hospital premises.

Out of the fleet of 15 ambulances that operate from the hospital, 10 ambulances went on strike.

"The behaviour of the management is unjust. They asked us to vacate the spot. How can they do that? Especially when we have been working on the premises for such a long time," said Pankaj Namdev, an ambulance driver.

The hospital, which is considered as one of the biggest hospitals of central India, does not have any ambulance services of its own. The hospital makes use of private ambulances. On an average, one ambulance caters to 20 cases.

While the hospital management was mum on the matter, the patients could be seen having a tough time. "My sister just got discharged from the hospital. We require an ambulance to take us home. However, we will have to arrange an auto-rickshaw or taxi to take her home," said Umashankar Trivedi, relative of a patient.
