A police official of the rank of deputy superintendent of police was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 at his house in Scheme No 54, Vijaynagar area, on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused, Brijesh Khushwaha, was posted at Anusuchit Jati/Janjati Kalyan (AJK) police station, Dhar.
This is the second incident within a span of 48 hours when a policeman has been caught accepting bribe. On Monday, head constable Harisingh Raghuvanshi, posted at Umarban chowki under Dhar district, was nabbed taking a bribe of Rs 5,000.
BS Parihar, Lokayukta DSP, said acting on complaint filed by Shahid Khan, a resident 171 Rajendra Marg, Dhar, Lokayukta the sleuth trapped DSP Kushwaha and recovered the bribe money from under a pillow.
Parihar said a couple of days back, DSP Kushwaha told Shahid that a tribal had lodged a complaint against him (Shahid) in connection with a land deal and demanded payment of Rs 50,000 to provide relief to Shahid in the case. Shahid lodged a complaint at Lokayukta office following the DSP’s demand.
The police have booked a case under Section 7, 13(1)d, 13(2) Prevention of Corruption Act and arrested him.
