Dist admin plans FB page to boost cleanliness drive in Indore

In its bid to keep the city clean, the Indore administration has turned to social media and have planned starting a FB page where they will interact with residents on matters related to keep the city clean.

In its bid to keep the city clean and involve the local residents in the exercise, the Indore district administration has now turned to social media. Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Sandeep Soni said that they have planned a FB page called 'Swachh Indore' where they will interact with residents on matters related to keep the city clean.

"If someone approaches us through Facebook stating that they would launch a special cleanliness drive in their area and ask for our assistance, we will certainly help them," said Soni. The page will also have appeals from the Indore collector, Indore Mayor, municipal commissioner along with their photographs.

With the proverbial Damocles' sword of the high court order hanging over them, the collector Akash Tripathi convened a meeting where he instructed the municipal commissioner Rakesh Singh to suspend sanitation workers who do not report to work.

He also instructed that all garbage collection trucks be fitted with GPS so that officials can keep track of their movement. Currently, 40 garbage collection trucks have been fitted with GPS device and instructions have issued to fit in other 20 vehicles within a week's time.

At present residents in certain colonies have to pay for door-to-door collection of garbages and Tripathi said 10 new colonies should be included every month so that the entire city is covered.

The question of people dumping garbage on vacant plots was also discussed at the meeting and it was decided that notices would be issued under Section 133 of Public Health Act telling them to construct boundary walls or cover area with 6-feet tin sheds.

The action being taken against stray cattle owners was also discussed. In the past one week, 600 stray cattle have been seized and FIR lodged against 35 cattle owners. The seized cattle have been released 50 km away in the jungles. Cattle owners who bring back their cattle would be prosecuted under Section 188 of IPC, the collector warned.

Along with the collector Tripathi and commissioner Rakesh Singh, additional collectors Ashish Singh, Alok Kumar Singh, additional IMC commissioner Surendra Kathuria, zonal officers, health officers were also present.
