With the arrest of five women on Sunday, Indore police claimed to have solved two big thefts which took place in last one week in Chhatripura and nearby area.
All the women belong to the Pardi community. Police seized gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh from their possession. Police said that quizzing of the accused was going on and they could possibly be involved in other thefts in the city.
The accused arrested by police are Jayshi Pardi, Meenakshi Pardi, Keerti Pardi, Prem Bai Pardi and Bulbul Pardi. Police have booked them under sections of IPC.
Speaking about the modus operendi of the woman gang members, police said they used to pose as beggars and have a look at the houses.
After identifying a house for committing theft, they used to break into it usually by breaking locks of front doors.
They then shared the stolen amount among themselves.
