IIT-Indore student gets Rs 1.7-crore job offer from Google

Gaurav Agarwal, a student of IIT-Indore, has got a Rs 1.7-crore job offer from Google for working with the company as a software engineer. Gaurav is a computer science student.

Astha Agarwal, a 20-year-old Jaipur girl and an IIT-Bombay student who got a Rs 2.1-crore job offer from Facebook, has some competition.

Gaurav Agarwal, a student of IIT-Indore, has got a Rs 1.7-crore job offer from Google for working with the company as a software engineer.

"I wanted to get a good placement when I enrolled myself in the institute but had no idea that it would come this way. It is a moment of pride and happiness for me and my family," said a beaming Gaurav, a computer science student.

This is one of the fattest pay packages offered to an IITian this year and the biggest offer made to an IIT-Indore student in three years of its existence.

The biggest offer so far at IIT-Indore was made to Shivani Gupta. Shivani, too, was a computer science student who graduated in 2014; and she was offered an annual package of Rs 63 lakh.

Gaurav, 21, is a resident of Bhilai and is the first engineer in his family. "My family has no connection with engineering. I am the first engineer from the family. This offer has come as extremely encouraging for the family which has always been into family business," said Gaurav.

Gaurav is excited about the place where he will be posted. "I would be working in Mountain view, California. The place is a hub of all software giants. So, that is adding up to the excitement."

Some prominent companies that took part in the campus recruitment include Microsoft, De Shaw, Amazon, Snapdeal, United Health Group, Flipkart, Quaalcomm, CISCO, Mahindra and Mahindra, AVTEC, Virtusa, Tata Motors and L&T, among others.
