Even dead bodies are not safe in Indore. In a recent case at Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital, a staff working in the mortuary ward allegedly stole finger rings from a body on Thursday.

Safely keeping the rings in his pocket, without any knowledge of the deceased's kin, chaos erupted at the mortuary as soon as the relatives realised that the rings were missing from the body. Suspecting some foul play when they searched the staff members, the rings were finally recovered from a helper staff identified as Karan.

Later, he was thrashed by the family members of the deceased. Soon the police was informed and the matter got settled. Later on when the accused was questioned he said that he had kept the rings with him only to return to the family members.

But he never got the chance to do so. Though no case was lodged in this matter, TI Sanyogitaganj police station, Deepak Singh Baghel said, "We have not registered a case as family member of the deceased has not officially complained to us. If they do that we will file it."
