Industrialists from different industrial areas of Indore gathered at Polo Ground and formed a human chain to protest against the proposed merger.

The small-scale industry in Madhya Pradesh is up in arms against the state government’s fresh move to bring them under the ambit of AKVN. The move will lead to a sharp increase in lease rent and other charges.

The government is in the process of framing Madhya Pradesh land and management Act 2014 under which it will bring 187 industrial units in the state under the ambit of AKVN. At present, the industrial areas hosting micro and small industries come under the purview of District Industries Centre. There is a vast difference between land lease and other charges collected by the two government agencies from the industrial units.

A joint delegation of small industry associations from different parts of the state will meet chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the next few days to urge him to reconsider the decision.

Last month, state government had put the decision to merge DIC with AKVN on hold after the small industry had raised a hue and cry. However, the state industry department is once again moving forward with the proposed merger.
