"Almost the entire stretch between Indore and Bhopal is now either four-lane or six-lane and so it was decided to convert this double-lane road to six-lane," an official of MPRDC said.

The corporation has invited bids from domestic companies. The tender documents are available online. The last date for submission is November 11, while the tenders will be opened on November 29.

At present, it takes a lot of time to traverse through the Dewas Bypass road that is frequented by trucks and other heavy vehicles. The alternative route that passes through Dewas town also has a high traffic density. Officials say that the six-lane project will become easily viable under BOT as a toll booth already exists on the road. The toll charges would obviously be revised once the six-lane road is in place. The MPRDC has already built Dewas-Bhopal as four-lane road.
