A 19-year-old girl committed suicide by jumping from the roof of her house after she was scolded by her mother for talking on the mobile phone during the night.
The incident took place on Saturday night at Sanver road under Banganga police station area. Police have registered a case under Section 174 CrPC and started investigation.
As per investigating officer of the case, SN Mishra, the girl, Deepshikha, was living with her parents and two siblings at Sanver road.
"In the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, around 10pm, when Deepshikha was talking to someone on the mobile phone, her mother came and snatched the phone. Her mother then broke the SIM card. They all went to bed and around 1am, the girl opened the front door of the house and jumped from the roof of the house," said Mishra.
She was rushed to a private hospital where she died within an hour. Police are taking the statements of the parents and registered a case under section 174 CrPC.
"The investigation in the case is going on," said Mishra.
