A dozen school children were injured when the school van, they were travelling in, was hit by a military truck near Suratgarh on Monday.
Four of the injured children were referred to Bikaner and Ganganagar hospitals, while others were treated at the government hospital in Suratgarh.
The school van of a private school was on way to Pilibangan from Rang Mahal when it was hit by a military truck, police said.
Dhruv, 6, son of Vijay Kumar, Simran, 4, daughter of Sattar Khan, Sumetha, 13, son of Jasram, Sahil, 14, son of Lalchand, Mamta, 15, daughter of Ramkumar, Prerna, 14, daughter of Mangilal, Hunny, 5, son of Radhakrishan and Ravina, 15, daughter of Abdul Ajeej were taken to the government hospital at Suratgarh, the police said. Many of them were discharged after preliminary treatment, it added.
Akshya, 15, son of Narendra Kumar, Bharat, 15, son of Jasram, Sunny,15, son of Krishanaram, Gajendra, 15 and van driver Pramod Kumar were referred to the hospitals in Ganganagar and Bikaner, the police said.
The truck driver tried to run away, but was arrested by the Hanumangarh district police.
After getting the information, parents and family members of the children rushed to the hospitals.
One on the children was taken to a private hospital by his father. The condition of the van driver was critical, the police said. The Pilibangan police are recording statements of the injured children.
