The assembly elections are at the end of this year and the State Election Commission (SEC) is gearing up to ensure a smooth election. The first level checking (FLC) of electronic voting machines and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) will be done at all district headquarters next Monday.
Deputy chief election officer Vinod Pareek said that engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will conduct the FLC of control units and ballot units available at the EVM warehouse at various districts in the state. Pareek was addressing all district level officers associated with election through video conferencing on Wednesday at the secretariat.
“On Monday, first level checking will begin at all the divisional headquarters in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Later, other teams from BEL Bangalore will complete the work in all districts by July 31,” Pareek said.
“According to instructions from SEC, all officers have been asked to provide security to EVM warehouses from the beginning of FLC and also to ensure the presence of political parties at the time of checking,” he said. Pareek also asked officials to remain alert so that there is less chance of EVM malfunctions at the time of polls.
14 state-level master trainers have been trained to impart training on EVMs, who will soon start training in the districts, he added.
On this occasion, a detailed power point presentation on FLC was given along with technical information such as cleaning EVM, function check, mock poll, data update, symbol loading, real-time clock etc were shared. Officers of many departments were present at the time of the video conferencing.
