Jaipur Metro will most likely start its commercial operations in the Pink City by July this year.

“We hope to start commercial operation of Jaipur metro by July this year. The final date will be decided by the state government after the election code of conduct comes to an end,” a highly placed official of Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) said.

The civil work under first phase of Jaipur metro is expected to be completed by May end. According to the officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), there are 255 pillars on metro track in which segment launching has been completed in 253 and the work in the remaining two will be completed within two week times. “We are working on a war-footing to complete the work of the first phase. It is expected to be over by May end,” a DMRC official said.

Cement Segments are launched through a supporting machine between the pillars to create base train track. The work is entrusted with DMRC.

Railway’s Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) on Monday has set a top speed of 80 km per hour for the Pink City’s Metro train, Goyal said.

After receiving JMRC’s completion report on the first phase, the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety will soon issue clearance in view of Metro’s speed certificate, he said, adding it might take 15 to 30 days for CMRS’ approval.

JMRC has spent so far `1,800 crore on the first phase, an official said. Under the first phase, Metro train would run between Mansarovar and Chandpole covering a distance of 9.718 km. Similarly under the first phase-IB, it is proposed that Metro train would be run from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar within a distance of 2.349 km.

The first phase will cost `3149 crore. The 12.6 km long first phase will have 11 stations from Mansarovar and Bari Chaupar, including three underground and eight elevated stations. The construction work for Jaipur Metro had begun on November 2010.
