Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday said that people of Rajasthan have started moving towards a healthy lifestyle by adopting Yoga. The way yoga has spread in the country and abroad, the credit goes to Baba Ramdev.

She was addressing a programme after laying the foundation stone of Govind Guru Tribal University at Banswara. “Around one lakh students have been associated with the university. Around 300 students are doing PhD of which 140 are from the scheduled tribe. The state government along with allotting land for setting up this university has also allotted the initial budget.” She directed the university management to give a timeline for the construction of the varsity and hoped that the building will be ready soon.

Raje said that the state government in its budget has waived off a loan of up to Rs 2 lakh and its interest that was due in 1980 and 81 of Rajasthan Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation Limited. In this scheme, 20,000 people in the state and 5,000 people alone in Banswara district will be benefited. 30 lakh small and marginal farmers will be benefitted in loan waiver scheme of Rs 50,000 as announced in the budget. In the tribal sub-plan area, work has been taken to deepen 25,000 wells, of which work of 4000 wells has been completed and by May 15, work of another 5000 wells will be completed. She directed officers to complete this work within the set time limit.

Raje said that the government has given Rs 170 crore for renovation of Mahi canals and work has been started. She said that once the work is completed, these canals will become a lifeline. She also asked the public to monitor the quality of work so that water can be carried to all places through these canals.

University vice-chancellor Prof Kailash Sodhani in his address said that the state government has allotted 146 bighas of land for the Govind Guru Tribal University and has allotted money for the construction. He said for the first time in the state, the university had made arrangements to send papers to examination centres online and arrangements are being made for online evaluation too. He said that the university has arrangements for imparting free coaching for RAS and other competitive exams.

Baba Ramdev announced that the next international yoga day will be organised in Kota in his presence and under the leadership of Raje. He said 2.5-3 lakh people will take part in this event.

A large number of people, including public representatives, administrative officials and others, were present on this occasion.
