The education department on Friday suspended the principal of a government school in Kota rural for conducting the examination of a Class 9 paper, a day before it was scheduled.
The social science examination was scheduled to be held on April 27, but owing to some alleged confusion created by a newspaper report in Jaipur, Manjulata Tytler, principal of the Government Girls Secondary School, Barod, got it conducted on April 26. It was conducted under the common examination system, where the examination paper was common for students in Kota.
The education department has now cancelled the examination and ordered a re-examination on April 28 (Saturday). Around 30,000 class 9 students in government schools of Kota would take the examination, additional district education officer, Narendra Gehlot, said.
Asked how the goof up happened, Gehlot said that earlier the social science examination was scheduled for April 18. However, following a government holiday being declared on Parshuram Jayanti on that date, the examination was rescheduled for April 27. In the meantime, the authorities at the Barod school claim that they got a news report from Jaipur, which said that the class 9 examination that was to be held on April 18 has been rescheduled for April 26. The report only talked about Jaipur district, where the social science examination (originally scheduled for April 18) was postponed to April 26.
This probably created confusion as examination dates were different for different zones. The examination in the subject was scheduled for April 27 in Kota.
The department got to know about the goof up when the social science question paper went viral on social media on April 26. The department declared the examination null and void and suspended Manjulata Tytler. A departmental probe has also been ordered in the case.
