Two labourers were killed and three injured when a stone mine operating illegally in Bharatpur’s Rasiya village collapsed on Tuesday.
Sheru Jatav (30) and Chuttan Sharma (40) were buried when the mine collapsed while they were working for a contractor, Ramsukh Gurjar.
The three injured were rushed to a local health centre for treatment.
Rasiya sarpanch Shivram Gurjar said that the Ramsukh Gurjar from Kandola village, under Nagar police station, has been involved in illegal mining.
After being informed, station house officer (SHO) of Nagar Devi Sahay Meena reached the spot and kept the bodies at the mortuary.
The police later handed over the bodies to the families after post-mortem.
Sirdar Khan sarpanch of Dundawal said that nearly four JCB machines and some tractor trolleys were there at the spot when the accident took place. A large part of the hill has been damaged by illegal miners.
Superintendent of police Anil Kumar Tank said that the SHO of Nagar and circle officer of Deeg has been directed to investigate the incident.
Legal action will be taken against those involved in illegal mining, Tank said.
Bus overturns, two killed
Two persons died while 19 others were injured when a private bus overturned in Rajsamand district, police said on Tuesday.
The bus was on way to Banswara from Jodhpur with nearly 40 passengers on board when the accident occurred near Mewadia crossing in Charbhuja town of the district on Monday night.
A case was registered against the bus driver and further investigation is on, they said. PTI
