Jailor commits suicide in Barrackpore

Das’s body was found hanging from a fan at his residence at around 7 am. Das had gone for a round of the Barrackpore Jail early Wednesday morning at around 6 am and thereafter returned to his residence and committed suicide, a source in the Barrackpore Jail said.

Das’ family members have lodged a complaint with the police that his death is unnatural and police should investigate it. Sources said that Kaushik was depressed after additional inspector general (Jail) Bichitra Bhattacharya her inspection of the jail on Tuesday had publicly humiliated him and threatened him with his job.
