"I waited 18 days (after the poll dates were announced) for the alliance that could not be reached even after initial talks," said Mamata Banerjee while announcing her list.

But she signalled that the talks would go on. However, should Congress fail to clinch a deal by Monday, Trinamool would also announce its candidates for those 64 seats.

Most of the seats that were left for the Congress are in the districts of North Bengal where it is traditionally strong.
Among Trinamool's candidates are a host of retired IPS officers, theatre artists and cine artists, "We would win with two-thirds majority," said Mamata Banerjee.
