Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Yogi lists checking ‘exodus of Hindus’ among top achievements

Marking the completion of two years of his government, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday listed the major achievements, which included checking exodus of Hindus from Kairana and Kandla in western Uttar Pradesh.

“The exodus was caused by those who were patronised by those in power then. Those who had set up signboards, saying their ‘houses were up for sale’ have now returned,” he said in an obvious reference to the Samajwadi Party.
Speaking to newspersons, Yogi also claimed increased investments and better job opportunities in his two year tenure.
“We created about 15 lakh jobs and job opportunities for the youths, including 2.25 lakh government jobs,” he said while claiming record investments in two years, more than what BSP and SP achieved in their 10 year rule from 2007 to 2017.
“Law and order resulted in more investments, which in turn created jobs. In just two years investment proposals of more than ₹5 lakh crore have been received out of which ₹1.5 lakh crore has already been implemented,” Yogi said.
“Between 2007 and 2012 of BSP rule, the state only got investments of ₹56,000 crore while between 2012 and 2017 of SP rule, it got ₹57,000 crore worth of investments but in just two years we have got more than them,” Yogi said.
“In 2012 as many 227 major riots took place, followed by 247 major riots in 2013, 242 in 2014, 219 in 2015 and 100 plus riots in 2016 in which scores of innocents were killed and massive damage done to property. In last two years of our rule, not one riot has taken place nor has any acid attack and abduction for ransom been reported,” he claimed.
Citing statistics of 3,539 police encounters with criminals in the last two years to buttress his claim of improved law and order, he said, “In these encounters 8,000 criminals have been arrested, 1000 plus have been injured, 73 killed, 12,000 got their bails cancelled and surrendered though we also lost about 6 of our policemen.”
“Such proactive policing stopped exodus of Hindus and traders,” he said.
REVENUE FRONT
“The loss to public exchequer was contained due to deft financial management of our government. The revenue surplus of the previous Samajwadi Party government was 1.6 per cent while our government has increased it to 3.2 per cent,” he said.
He also claimed huge increase in revenue from mining.
PRO-FARMER FOCUS
“Without putting any additional tax or taking any loan, we followed austerity measures to execute loan waiver benefitting scores of small and medium farmers,” he said.
“On an average we waived off ₹60,000 loan per eligible farmer, which is a record. Again in 2016-17, 7.97 lakh metric tonnes wheat purchase was done through middlemen while in 2017-18 when our government assumed office 36.99 lakh metric tonnes was purchased directly from farmers. In 2018-19 this went up to 52.98 lakh metric tonnes and ₹9231.99 crore was transferred directly to farmers’ accounts within 72 hours of the purchase,” he said.
Similarly, he claimed that sugarcane dues pending since 2011-12 worth over ₹57000 crore were cleared.
