A group of student leaders of Allahabad University, led by Neeraj Pratap Singh, staged a protest at varsity’s main gates on Tuesday. They were protesting against various anomalies, including in recent recruitments of teachers at constituent colleges, besides Neeraj being prevented from appearing in his exams.

The agitated student leaders stood in front of the vice-chancellor’s car refusing to let it pass. University security personnel somehow managed to take the VC inside the campus.

As per the officiating proctor of AU, Prof RS Singh, as the VC’s car was about to enter the main campus of AU in the morning, a group of student leaders came in front of the car. The proctor also claimed that the protesting student leaders attacked the VC and tried to manhandle the VC besides using abusive language.

Neeraj is already rusticated by the varsity administration and his entry inside the campus has been banned for the period of five years by the university administration.

Taking strong cognizance of the incident, the officiating proctor has submitted a complaint to the Colonelganj police in this regard and urged registering of an FIR against the student leader and his associates. “We have received the application and have registered an FIR under relevant section of the IPC,” said inspector Colonelganj Awadhesh Singh.

Teachers of Allahabad University under the banner of Allahabad University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) and Allahabad University Constituent Colleges Teachers’ Association (AUCCTA) have condemned the alleged misconduct of student leaders.
