Five members of Dalit family killed over land dispute
Five members of a Dalit family were shot dead allegedly by members of the same community over a land dispute at Aminabad village in Etawah district on Thursday.
Police said Hom Singh had an old enmity with his neighbour Vishram Singh over a piece of land. Vishram Singh had recently won a court battle in the dispute.
In the wee hours on Thursday, Hom Singh and some others raided Vishram Singh's house and opened indiscriminate fire killing Singh, his wife, son, daughter-in-law and another person, they said.
A case had been registered and some persons had been detained for questioning in this connection, police said adding security personnel have been deployed to maintain order.
District administration has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs One lakh each for next of the kin of the deceased.
