Also, government boys’ schools will be made co-educational. But girls’ schools will remain exclusively for them.

These decisions were taken at a meeting between deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and additional chief secretary (school education) of Haryana, PK Das here on Friday.

“Students will be engaged in joyful activities on Saturdays. This will help in developing their personality,” Sharma said.

He said the education department was taking a number of measures to transform government schools. “We are in the process of removing all corruption from the office of District Inspector of School (DIoS),” he said.

The DIoS office will have no role in settling disputes of school management committees. The power may be transferred to the registrar, chit-fund society.

Sharma directed principal secretary, secondary education, to prepare a proposal within a week and table it before him. He also said teachers should not be engaged in any other activity apart from census, poll duty and natural calamity.

A three-member committee was formed to prepare digital database for government school teachers. Sources said the central government wants the Haryana policy to be replicated in other BJP- ruled states.
