Brawls during Holi revelry claimed lives of three persons here in the state capital on Wednesday.
In the first incident, 55-year old Jagdish Prasad Yadav died after he was attacked with rods and canes by unidentified assailants at the crematorium ground on VIP road in Krishna Nagar. His family has named four persons for murdering him over an old enmity.
The police said a group of people attacked Yadav, who worked at the crematorium, after a brawl over some issue. The assailants beat him badly and fled when some locals turned up to rescue him. He was rushed to trauma centre where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
His sons Prem and Dukhram have alleged four locals Chandu, Pappu, Sunil and Chotu in the FIR lodged with Krishna Nagar police station. Two years ago, the same persons had attacked his father when he denied paying them goonda tax, he added. The police are carrying out raids.
In the second incident, body of a 25-year-old man Gyan Sagar bearing injury marks was recovered from a drain in Sarojininagar on Wednesday. He worked with the unit building bus and truck bodies and had been reported missing since last Thursday night. The police said the injuries suggested that the victim had been attacked with rods and canes. His wife Shakuntala suspected the hand of the deceased’s friend Santosh.
In the third incident, a tempo driver Rohit Valmiki, 18, was found dead at a secluded place near the picnic spot in Indira Nagar. The body sustained injuries in the head and other parts of the body, following which his family members alleged foul play.
His father Sunil Valmiki has accused his three friends Chand, Salman and Moin of murdering him. The police are further probing the matter.
