Three men allegedly gang raped a 24-year-old married woman in a moving car and later dumped her on a highway near Auraiya on Thursday morning.

The woman was admitted to hospital by locals who also informed the police.

The victim was staying with her parents in Auraiya for the past one week and had gone to Mathura for some religious function.

Last night while she was waiting for bus to Auraiya she met a woman who lived in her neighbouring village. She offered her a lift in her car that already had three men.

Police said the car stopped near Agra for tea. However, the victim fell unconscious after having the tea that was apparently laced with some sedative.

The woman alleged that she was raped by the three men between Agra and Mathura and later dumped near the highway. She was discovered near Laxmi Dhaba on the highway by locals around 6AM.

She was supposed to join her husband and two kids in Delhi after the Mathura trip.

The Kotwali police have recorded her statement and were conducting raids to nab the accused.

Bhaskar Varma, circle officer, Auraiya, said the police would register a case only after the medical examination report was made available.
