Special judge (Anti-Corruption) Rekha Dixit deferred the hearing after the counsel for one of the accused, former Environment Secretary RK Sharma, moved an application seeking an adjournment. Sharma has filed an intervention plea in the matter.

Uttar Pradesh Governor TV Rajeswar had earlier refused to accord sanction to prosecute Chief Minister Mayawati and her cabinet colleague Naseemuddin Siddique in the case. Besides Sharma, the other accused in the Rs 175 crore scam are Under secretary Rajendra Prasad and former IAS official VK Gupta.
