The girl is a student of a special school for deaf and mute children run by a non-government organisation (NGO).

The girl’s mother informed the police that she came to know about the incident when her daughter refused to go to the school on Saturday.

“Through actions, she informed us that she had been sexually assaulted at her school,” she said and added that she approached the police after the school authorities did not help her in identifying the accused.

Station house officer, Rail Bazar, Manoj Raghuvanshi said it was not clear if the girl was sexually assaulted at the school or some other place as she was unable to speak.

“The girl will be taken to school on Monday to identify the accused. The girl has been sent for medical examination,” he said.

The police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are investigating the matter.
