The victim's family has decided to take the legal battle against the accused to its logical end.
Only justice is what the family is aiming at unfazed by the 'powerful' lobbies reportedly attempting to shield officer Shashi Bhushan Lal Susheel.
The girl's mother wants this case to be a deterrent for others who think they can get away with whatever they do by virtue of their being in the seat of power.
"When I decided to lodge the complaint, I did not know who the man was. Now that he seems to be an influential man, I do not care. No matter how strong the lobby supporting him is. I think they must be like him," the mother told HT on Tuesday after a local court granted interim bail to the officer.
Ever since the case came to light, rumours about the family's political contacts are doing the rounds, which it denies. Many theories even questioned the validity of the case. Though dazed and traumatised by the Monday incident, the victim's mother, who ran a beauty parlour has full faith in the judicial system.
"I know people may come up with many angles to the story to some how ensue that I withdraw the case. It was predicted. I am a simple woman. Now I have given up the job and am living with my husband who is also retired. I do not mind what they say. All I know is I firmly believe that my daughter will get justice one fine day," she adds.
The hurdles began for the mother at the time of lodging the complaint against the IAS officer at Charbagh railway station on Monday. "They wanted me to give up at the beginning only," she said.
Posted as special secretary in the state's technical education department, the 2001 batch IAS officer Susheel, 39, was granted interim bail by a local court on Wednesday.
