An advertisement by McDonald’s Singapore has gone viral on social media for all the right reasons, gaining nearly 460,000 views.

Celebrating the spirit of Ramzan, the two-minute-long commercial touched numerous hearts and continues to gain in popularity. The advertisement propagates the message of taking time out to share the spirit of the festival with others.

The video features Zul, an employee with the McDelivery service, waking up before dawn, eating suhur (the pre-dawn meal) with his family and heading out to work. The following one minute then focuses on his tiring day, full of ups and downs where he makes multiple deliveries - sometimes climbing several flights of stairs, other times helping a stranger whose car breaks down.

As the day draws to a close, Zul makes a delivery to a man who looks at the time and stops him. “Adik,” the man says, using the Malay term for younger brother. “It’s time to break your fast, right?”

The man then offers Zul a McDonald’s happy sharing box to him and the ad ends with the tagline, “Share the spirit of Ramadan”.

“We’re encouraged by the positive response received from our latest video. We wanted to celebrate Singapore’s community spirit of human kindness, sharing and togetherness during this Ramadan month,” said Agatha Yap, senior director of marketing and digital innovation.

“What better way than to do it through the lens of our McDelivery riders – who connect our brand with our customers, door to door. It’s our small way of appreciating those working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver meals and enabling the bonding and sharing moments during this occasion.”
