2 on bike, 4 in cars killed in Palghar accident

Six people were killed and two injured in an accident involving multiple vehicles on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway on Friday.

No case has been registered yet, said police. Anand Kale, assistant police inspector (API) of Kasa police station, said Navnath Nawle was crossing the road on his bike on Friday afternoon when he came in the way of a car heading to Mumbai from Ahmedabad.
Rakesh Shah, the driver of the car, lost control and the vehicle crashed into the bike. Owing to the impact of the accident, Rakesh Shah’s car swerved to the Gujarat-bound lane, where a Gujarat-bound car rammed into the vehicle.
Six people died in the accident: Navnath Nawle, 25, and Narayan Supe, 45, who were on the bike; Rakesh Shah, 50, and Pratibha Shah, 70, who were in the Mumbai-bound car; and Akash Chavan, 42, and Dilip Chandane, 30, who were in the Gujarat-bound car.
Two other people , Jinal Shah, 23 and Naresh Supe, 30, were injured and have been admitted to hospitals. Police said Rakesh Shah and Pratibha Shah are related and are trying to find out how they are related. Jinal Shah, too, was in the same car.
“We are yet to register cases. Our top priority is to clear the debris due to the mishap, as the three vehicles were destroyed completely,” said Kale.
