The police have arrested a man, Prasad Rawat, for stabbing his wife in an autorickshaw in Mumbai’s Goregaon on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 9.45pm on Monday when the woman, Geeta Dubey, was travelling in an autorickshaw from her Goregaon (East) house to purchase vegetables.
She was travelling alone, the police said.
“A man came and attacked her while she was sitting in the auto. He ran off after stabbing her thrice. Some witnesses saw him running, we are trying to identify him,” said an officer. “She was stabbed in the neck and hand,” an eye-witness told HT.
The police said the woman has been married for four years and has two children. “The Goregaon police have registered a case of murder,” said Vikram Deshmane, deputy commissioner of police, zone XI.
Preliminary investigations had revealed that the man stabbed her soon after the autorickshaw stopped near the junction. The police found her phone and jewellery on her. Investigating officials subsequently ruled out robbery as the motive.
The accused used a kitchen knife to stab her.
