The body of a 55-year-old driver who died in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune expressway was brought by his wife at their Colaba residence on Sunday morning.

The sole bread winner of the family of four, Bomi Mose had been working as a driver for the Motwani builders for the past three months. He was driving a Honda City with his employer’s wife Neeta Motwani, 60, and her friends Rajni Daryanani, 70, and Veena D, 70, who are admitted to Lokmanya Hospital in Pune.

Mose and Neeta’s friends were returning to Mumbai from Lonavala. He was taking a U-turn when an SUV collided with his car, said sub-inspector CV Kamble from Kamshet police station.

Shruti Bawre, a relative of Mose, said her uncle had been staying with his wife Chinthalli, 36, and daughter Priya in Colaba’s Geeta Nagar slum for the past 15 years. His elder daughter Asha, however, lives with her grandparents at Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

“On Saturday morning, the uncle left home at 7.30am, saying that he was taking his employer’s wife to Lonavala and would be back by evening. Chinthalli last spoke to him at 4pm after which his phone was not reachable. At 12.30 am, we received a call from the Motwanis that he had died,” said Shruti, who lives next door.

Chinthalli left for Pune at 1am on Sunday and brought Mose’s body to Mumbai. Mose’s body was taken to Sewree graveyard for last rites.
