One killed, another injured after goods tempo hits JCB in Mumbai suburbs

One person died while another was injured in a road accident at Gaymukh, Thane on Thursday, after a goods-laden tempo hit a stationery JCB machine on Ghodbunder road.

The police said that the tempo driver is absconding, and they are on a lookout for him. Prima facia, the police suspect that the driver might have lost control of the vehicle owing to overloading.
Around 1.30 pm on Thursday, the tempo driver may have lost the control of the vehilce, owing to which it tumbled on a stationery JCB. Raju Ekappa Wadekar, 36, a resident of Ambernath, was severely hit on the lower part of his body and succumbed to his injuries, while the other man, identified as Siyaram Wayekar, has been admitted to a private hospital. Wadekar was a supervisor with the road contractor, the police added.
The police said that some of the employees of the road contractor were carrying out regular maintenance work of several patches of Ghodbunder road .
