Unidentified pedestrian dies after fainting on footpath in Mumbai’s Oshiwara

An unidentified pedestrian in his mid 20s died after fainting on a footpath in Oshiwara on Wednesday night.

The incident took place at 8.30pm when the man was walking on the footpath on the southbound stretch of New Link Road near Oshiwara, said the Oshiwara police.

While walking, he had a seizure, collapsed and hit his head. Blood started oozing from his mouth, said an officer. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, the officer added.

“An eyewitness told us the pedestrian had convulsions and fell. There are no external injury marks on his body that could point to a vehicle-pedestrian collision,” said Subhash Khanvilkar, senior inspector at Oshiwara police station.

The police are trying to find his family. According to the police, the man was well-dressed but had no documents on him.

“He was walking from Goregaon towards Oshiwara. We suspect he may be a local resident. We will see if any missing person complaint has been filed in the city that matches his description,” added Khanvilkar.

The police have sent his body for an autopsy and are awaiting the report. They have filed an accidental death report.
