Women’s Day tweet: Ram Gopal Varma should be in prison, says Shiv Sena
Varma on March 8 had tweeted, saying as women in the world should give men as much happiness as actor Sunny Leone does.
A day after Ram Gopal Varma received flak and apologised for a contentious tweet on International Women’s Day, the Shiv Sena on Friday slammed the film maker saying the only place for people like him is prisons.

Varma on March 8 had tweeted, saying as women in the world should give men as much happiness as actor Sunny Leone does. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad and Varma got into war of words with him on social media over the remark.
In an editorial in the party’s mouthpiece, Saamana, the Shiv Sena said, “Varma’s comments are as objectionable as Prashant Paricharak’s remarks. People like Ram Gopal Varma don’t have the right to stand tall at least in Maharashtra.”
Solapur Member of Legislative Council Prashant Paricharak was suspended for 1.5 years from the house for calling army wives unfaithful during a campaign rally last month.
The Sena added that this was not the first time that Varma had drawn himself into a controversy by making objectionable remarks, and has gotten away every time until now.
