MUMBAI: Shivang Nath, the 24-year-old son of popular Bollywood actor Alok Nath, led the police on a 2-km chase after the traffic police asked him to stop at a nakabandi
MUMBAI: Shivang Nath, the 24-year-old son of popular Bollywood actor Alok Nath, led the police on a 2-km chase after the traffic police asked him to stop at a nakabandi in Khar in the early hours of Tuesday. Shivang, who was allegedly drunk, was not carrying his driver’s licence.

The police said Shivang was driving towards his home in Andheri (West) with three friends – two women and a man.
Around 1am, a police team from the Bandra traffic division manning a nakabandi (road block) set up to curbing drink driving told Shivang to stop his car near Khar police station. Shivang, however, sped away.
The police chased him for two kilometres before halting him near Santacruz police station. The police said Shivang’s women friends tried to take the blame, telling policemen that he had not been driving the vehicle.
Deputy commissioner of police Ashok Dudhe said, “The accused’s car was chased and intercepted on SV road and he was taken to Santacruz police station, where a first information report (FIR) was registered against him under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.”
The vehicle was impounded by the Bandra traffic division, which collected a Rs2,600 deposit from Shivang before allowing him to leave.
On Tuesday he was produced before a court, which fined him Rs2,000.
An official from Bandra traffic police said, “The accused confessed [in court] and said he would never drive drunk again.”
