After watching the last show of the recently released Once upon a time in Mumbaai at Fame, the crowd took the lift to go downstairs but it got stuck.

Nand Chappru, one of the people stuck in the lift, said: "There were four children and five women with us in the lift. When the lift was about to reach the first floor, it stopped. Since it was 1.15 am, there was no one outside who could hear us."

"There was no alarm either to inform some authority. We had to call our friends on the phone, who in turn informed the police," Chappru added.

Sudhakar Kadam, a fire officer from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation said, "We tried our best to supply oxygen in the lift. It started working only after mall security informed the lift serviceman, who came and rescued the people trapped in the lift," said Kadam.

He added that he will send a notice to mall authorities because it was their duty to provide security.

"They should have a trained liftman in the lift at all times, so that he knows what needs to be done in an emergency situation like this," added Kadam.
