The Shivaji Nagar police on Monday registered a case of attempt to murder against two brothers for allegedly assaulting a neighbour with a knife. The accused were reportedly upset after the victim’s four-year-old son fought with a child from their family on Saturday.

Senior inspector D.S. Jodgujari said, “Both accused are untraceable and efforts are on to arrest them.”
Brothers Mohammed Mueed Sheikh (17) Mohammed Mukin Sheikh (22) and their neighbour Jannat Husain Mohammed (24) are residents of Baiganwadi area in Govandi.
The police said on Saturday morning a four-year-old boy from Sheikh family had a fight with Jannat’s son.
The officials added that the adults from both the families got involved in the fight, which escalated the tension between them.
Witnesses said the tension between the two families was brought down after the elders and other members of the area intervened and helped in resolving the matter.
However, the matter erupted again on Monday morning when the Sheikh brothers asked Jannat to come out of his house.
Witnesses added that both parties hurled abuses at each other. “In the spur of the moment, the Sheikhs assaulted Jannat with a knife and he started bleeding profusely,” said a local.
The locals, who had gathered at the spot, took him to Rajawadi hospital from where he was transferred to Sion hospital.
