The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made an email id open for citizens to send in their queries.
The civic standing committee approved the capital value based property tax system last month.
On sending the SAC number or the property identification number (mentioned on your property tax bill), a reply stating the capital value of your property and the tax rates applicable will be sent. The BMC has mapped 2.3 lakh properties in the city and has attributed a unique identification number to each. “We had been using the email id for internal communication, but have now opened it to the public,” said SS Shinde, joint municipal commissioner.
