Actor Kangana Ranaut has told the police the email ID she communicated with Hrithik Roshan on was given to her by the actor himself and she was not in conversation with an imposter. Ranaut had a day earlier recorded her statement with the cyber police.
Sources close to Ranaut said she further told the police it was Roshan who hacked her account and was in a relationship with her. Ranaut’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee refused to comment on what his client said, as did the cyber police .
A team from the BKC cyber police station on Saturday recorded Ranaut’s statement as part of their investigation into allegations and counter-allegations between her and Roshan.
Roshan had earlier filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell, claiming an imposter had been emailing Ranaut from a bogus email id.
A five-member cybercrime team, which included three women, recorded Ranaut’s statement. The police also recorded her sister Rangoli’s statement. Sources said the two women are witnesses in the case.
Roshan, in a letter to then commissioner Rakesh Maria and the BKC cybercrime division, had alleged that an impersonator was contacting his friends and fans using a bogus email address, hroshan@email.com.
Last month an FIR was registered by Roshan against the imposter. Roshan had earlier filed a complaint with the cybercrime cell, claiming an imposter had been emailing Ranaut from a bogus email id, pretending to be him.
He said he learnt about the fake account when he started receiving calls from friends asking why he was not replying to their emails. Ranaut became involved in the case after email exchanges were leaked in the media.
