Kalokhe was arrested in March in connection with the drugs case involving drug peddler Shashikala Patankar alias Baby.

The forged election identity card was in the name of Patankar’s husband, Ramesh, and had Kalokhe’s photograph on it, officers said. While the bottle was half empty and the liquid is yet to be identified. Kalokhe had written about his aspirations in the diary, added the officers.

All the seized items have been sent to Kalina Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) and reports are awaited.

The Marine Drive police had earlier seized 12 kgs of a substance, suspected to be Mephedrone (MD), from the same cupboard. However, the forensic analysis report revealed it was ajinomoto (sodium glutamine).

After the investigation was shifted to the crime branch, they sought court’s permission to collect fresh samples from the same cupboard.

“We found traces of crystalline powder-like substance from the cupboard. We wanted to check if the fresh traces are from a drug, in the light of the earlier reports that are negative,” said a crime branch officer.

The crime branch is in the process of adding a new charge of forgery against Kalokhe, who is already booked under theNarcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
