In a fresh development in last year's murder of television executive Neeraj Grover, one more person has been arrested for allegedly threatening a prosecution witness, police said on Tuesday.
Munshi Yadav (38) was apprehended yesterday from Lucky online lottery centre in suburban Goregaon on charge of threatening a 'panch' witness Usha Ramalu, Joint Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said.
Yadav, who was produced before a court in Mumbai, has been remanded in police custody till September 14.
Earlier, Yadav's associate, Raju Wankhede(37), a small-time real estate agent, was arrested on the same charge.
Police said on September 5, both had gone to Ramalu's residence and told her not to depose against Kannada actress Maria Susairaj, the prime accused in the case. They allegedly warned her of dire consequences if she testified against the actress. Wankhede had been arrested the same day.
Maria said according to the FIR, Yadav had gone to Ramalu's house and told her not to say anything against Susairaj in the court. "She also said that Yadav took her outside the house and made her speak to Wankhede, who was waiting there.
"The witness claimed that she was subsequently made to speak to Raja Thakur, one of the actress' lawyers, over mobile phone," Maria said.
