Icelandic singer Bjork, British rockers 'McFly' and American band 'Good Charlotte' were already booked in for the July 2 concert to take place at the Makuhari Messe event hall, east of the Japanese capital.
The concert will also feature Japanese groups Dreams Come True, Def Tech and Rize.
It will be Bjork's first live performance in two years, the organisers said on their Internet homepage.
Irish pop star-turned aid activist Bob Geldof initiated the Live8 concerts, to be held the same day in cities around the world.
The Tokyo act will kick off the international event due to the time difference.
Geldof, who organized the massive Live Aid fund-raising charity concerts in 1985, hopes the latest event will raise awareness of African aid issues ahead of the G8 leaders' summit in Gleneagles, Scotland, starting four days later.
Major artists including Madonna, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder and others are expected to perform for the global event.
