Rafi's 30th death anniversary fell on July 31 while July 14 was Madan Mohan's 35th death anniversary. The two songs were recorded in their lifetime, but were never released as the films for which they were recorded never saw the light of day.

The first song — Ya illahi, ek haseena ne machai hai tabahi — is a naughty number in Rafi's inimitable style, recorded sometime in the mid-60s, said a statement by Madan Mohan's family. It was discovered from the composer's master spools.

Har sapna ek din toote is duniya mein is a philosophical number recorded in the early 1970s. It is a tune in Mohan's characteristic mellifluous style and has been sung with great emotion by Rafi.

Rafi teamed up with Mohan — popularly known as the king of ghazal compositions — to belt out hit numbers such as Meri awaaz suno, Teri ankhon ke siwa, Kabhi naa kabhi, Yeh duniya ye mehfil and Ab tumhare hawale wattan saathiyon.

The songs are available on the website www.madanmohan.in.
