However, investigating officers from Satara police have learnt that a theft case of the ambulance has been registered with the Wai police station on July 25. They are investigating whether the accused used the same ambulance for transporting the bodies of his victims.
Pol was earlier arrested from Dadar on August 13 after the mysterious disappearance of Mangel Jedhe, president of the Maharashtra Purva Prathmik Shikshika Sevika Sangh (MPPSSS).
Following the arrest, Pol confessed to killing five more people.
Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai police Paramjit Singh Dahiya (zone 5) said, “We got an information regarding an ambulance, which was earlier donated by Dr Santosh Pol to Mumbai-based Ganarajya Welfare society, which is being run by one Vivekanand Kamble, We approached him and he cooperated with us as he claimed that if the ambulance has anything to do with the murder case then it may well be seized.”
